Adam Townley
Adam Townley is an award-winning filmmaker and writer whose visual style weaves original imagery around charming narrative.
Adam was born in Colchester, Essex. His father a carpet fitter and his mother a cleaner, carer, and shop assistant. Adam lists his working class roots, or rather the understanding that success only comes from hard work, as one of the most important influences in his filmmaking career.
After working his way through a state funded education, which culminated in a mathematics based degree, Adam started work for Virgin Records as the 'post boy'. He worked his way up through the organisation to become the founding member of the company's newly formed internet department. It was here Adam met Simon Atkinson, a like-minded creative thinker from a similar background. A collaboration that would last the test of time was formed.
Using the name Si&Ad, a moniker given to them by the performing artists they were working with, Massive Attack, The Chemical Brothers, Spice Girls, to name a few, the duo cut their teeth directing award winning music videos for acts as diverse as Blue, Groove Armada, Gomez, McFly and Tinie Tempah. At this time a longstanding relationship with Academy Films was born, where the duo embarked on a successful commercials career. Working with clients such as Honda, VW, Cadbury, Kohl's, JCPenny, Morrisons, Robinsons and Vodafone to create award winning work.
Si&Ad have also created several short form narrative pieces. 'Street Dream', 'Post-It Love' and 'Indoor' all featured heavily on the international Film Festival Circuit. The duo continue to push the boundaries of creative thinking in an endeavour to produce original and charming work.
