Peter King
Born and raised in County Durham in the North East England, Peter is a British Independent Film Award nominated director, known for Make Me Famous (2020), Crack (2015) and This Is the Winter (2019). His directing style is very grounded, crafting his stories through real, accessible characters via strong performances and naturalistic cinematography. 'Make Me Famous', starring Tom Brittney and written by Reggie Yates is an intimate portrait of a young man's experiences dealing with newfound fame. We follow Billy's journey through his post Reality TV experience as he struggles with his self-image. As the world closes in on him, he finds himself increasingly alone. The film looks at fame, mental health and the toxic consequences of social media trolling.
His short 'Crack' was nominated for a British Independent Film Award for Best Short Film and screened at festivals around the world. 'This is the Winter' was nominated for Best UK Short at Raindance and was produced by Michael Fassbender through DMC Film. The film takes a sharp look at how the resentment felt throughout the working-class communities has been manipulated by power hungry opportunists, using hostile, often extreme, identity politics set in a war-torn future Britain.
