S.A. Halewood
Suzie's first screenplay One More Kiss, produced by Paul Brooks (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) and starring Gerry Butler (The 300) won the Audience Award at the Atlantic Film Festival. The next feature was bought by Andrew MacDonald (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later) and Just Desserts, a TV pilot, was nominated for best regional drama at The Royal Television Society Awards.
She has directed short films, commercials and promos and the world's first Internet movie Running Time co-produced by Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire), which was nominated for a BAFTA. Her short film Rocket Man premiered at Venice Biennale and Two Minute Warning, which was released in the UK, Switzerland, Austria and Germany, won the Golden Boot at Portobello.
Her debut feature Bigger Than Ben: A Russians' Guide to Ripping Off London, starring Ben Barnes and Hero Fiennes Tiffin, made The Times Top 100 Films 2008. It won Best Comedy Feature at the Los Angeles DIY Film Festival, Best of the Fest at Edinburgh and was nominated for Best Feature at Austin Film Festival. It also showcased at Cinequest, Moscow and others...and received a theatrical release.
Shot in Detroit, Division 19 is Halewood's second feature. Winner at Fantasporto and Boston, the film received its US theatrical release April 2019. Next up is a comedy set in Gaza (again with Simon Beaufoy) plus two other features The Jacket and Asset. Halewood is also working on a novel 'Where We Are Now'.
