His award-winning novel "B as in Beauty" (Hachette) was published in the U.S. Spain, and Italy in 2009. He is currently writing, directing, and producing "The Lessons by Alberto Ferreras", an award winning series of urban short films that have been shown in dozens of festivals around the world. "Lesson #7" was acquired by HBO in 2019. He is also the author of screenplay/stage-play "Hamlet in Harlem" (in development) that was produced by Theater for The New City for a zoom audience in May 2020. He created, executive produced and directed the HBO documentary series "Habla" (2003-2020). A new special is scheduled to premiere on HBO in 2020. He co-created the short-form bilingual animated children's series "El Perro y el Gato" for HBO Family (2004 - 2011). His short films "Verbal Sex" (1999) and "Tómbola" (1997) premiered at the Berlinale, and "Bigger" (2004) premiered at Outfest and was presented at London's B.F.I. He is currently consulting for the Smithsonian Latino Center in Washington D.C.
