She invested in her first home production, a low budget action feature and subsequently travelled with it to the Berlin Film Festival, American Film Market and eventually the Cannes Film Festival for its screening. She was hooked not just on the beauty and passion of story-telling but also the mechanics of buying and selling films; the tremendous platform that a festival presents to young filmmakers and the future of indie cinema especially the potential of the emerging indie space in India. Premila heads up GAP2000 Films, a UK/Indian film production company, developing and producing original Indian content reflecting themes that resonate globally. Moving away from traditional Bollywood musicals, the company produces commercial and thought-provoking feature films aimed at the international market.
